Local pub scoops two awards in prestigious national competition
A Dorset pub has won acclaim for its service to the local community and successful range of entertainment. Chaplins & The Cellar Bar, in Bournemouth, has been named winner of both the Best Community Pub and Best Entertainment Pub for the South West region in the Great British Pub Awards 2014.
It beat off the challenge of numerous pubs in the region to claim the titles. The awards are organised by leading pub industry magazine, the Publican’s Morning Advertiser. Its editor Rob Willock says: “The awards recognise pubs that have best served their local area and have a varied and successful range of entertainment.
“The judges were really impressed with the range and quality of the pub’s events and its active role in the community, which have significantly sontributed to its business success.”
The pub will now go forward to the Great British Pub Awards 2014 national final, held at the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London, on Thursday, September 11. It will go head to head with five other regional winners for the UK titles of ‘Best Community Pub 2014’ and ‘Best Entertainment Pub 2014’. Chaplins & The Cellar Bar will also have the opportunity to compete for the overall champions of champions title of ‘Great British Pub of the Year 2014.’
